I’m doing an experiment.
Here’s the backstory…
For the longest time I had an iPhone SE. Yeah, one with a home button.
And it was great. But the other day the screen finally gave out after being beaten up for so long.
So I bought another, this time an iPhone 16e…
You might have noticed in this picture the SE is working again.
And it is. After trying many workarounds, I couldn’t create a new NatWest login from Vietnam.
So I bit the bullet and got the SE’s screen repaired this afternoon.
Two phones is a little excessive, but it gives me a chance to try something out…
There’s an idea from a dude called George Mack, called cocaine phone and kale phone.
Basically, the cocaine phone has everything non-essential, like social media, shopping and other distractions.
The kale phone (the one you carry with you every day) has only the essentials for getting by and perhaps for work.
So this is what we’re going to be trying. The new, fancy, flashy phone will be my cocaine phone (where I film, edit and post to social media), whereas the one where I can access all of my bank apps will be my everyday driver.
I’ll report back to you and see how it goes. Compulsive phone use is something I’ve struggled with before so I’m eager to see if this strategy works for reducing my aimless screen time.
